Adam is an alumnus of the UMass Lowell Sound Recording Technology program, and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Album of the Year, for his mastering work on the Vince Gill album “These Days”.
Adam is nominated for another Grammy! (01/4/2008): Adam is nominated this year (the 50th Annual Grammy Awards) in the category of "Album of the Year" for his mastering work on Vince Gill's latest release "These Days." Adam Ayan wins 2 Latin Grammy Awards! (11/14/2007): Adam Ayan won 2 Latin Grammy Awards at the 8th Annual Latin Grammys in Las Vegas on Thursday, November 8th, 2007. Adam won in the categories of "Best Engineered Album", and "Album Del Ano (Album of the Year)" for his mastering work on the Juan Luis Guerra album "La Llave De Mi Corazon". Engineers Ronnie Torres, Allan Leschhorn and Luis Mansilla were also awarded Latin Grammys for their engineering and mixing work on the album.

Adam's win in the "Best Engineered Album" category marks the very first time a mastering engineer has been awarded a Grammy in that category!

Juan Luis Guerra was also nominated for and won a total of 5 Latin Grammys for the album and it's first single, the title track "La Llave De Mi Corazon". Congratulations Juan Luis!
Gateway Mastering enjoys 3 consecutive weeks of #1 albums! (11/14/2007): Reba McEntire's latest release "Reba Duets" debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart for the Billboard issue week of October 6th, 2007. The following week Rascal Flatt's latest release "Still Feels Good" debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart as well, with over 500,000 albums sold. Bruce Springsteen's latest release "Magic" debuted at #1 in the October 20th Billboard issue. The Reba McEntire release and the Rascal Flatts release were mastered by Adam Ayan this past summer, and Bruce Springsteen's "Magic" was mastered by Bob Ludwig.
2007 TEC Award nominations - Adam has 3 of 'em! (08/15/2007): Adam has three nominations in the 2007 TEC Awards! For "Creative Achievement" Adam is nominated twice in the "Surround Sound Production" category (Barenaked Ladies "Are Me" and Dream Theater "XOX"), and one nomination in the "Record Production/Single or Track" category (Rascal Flatts - "What Hurts The Most"). Best of luck to all of the nominees!
The 49th Annual Grammy Awards! (02/26/2007): It was a great year at the Grammys for Adam's clients! Adam mastered 9 projects that had a total of 10 nominations at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards. 3 nominees took home the golden grammophone.
Irma Thomas won in the category of "Best Contemporary Blues Album" for her most recent record "After The Rain".
Vince Gill won in the category of "Best Male Country Vocal Performance" for his single "The Reason Why", off his most recent album "These Days".
Carrie Underwood also won for "Best New Artist". Adam mastered half of the cuts from Carrie's debut album "Some Hearts".

Adam featured in Port City Life article! (01/2/2007): Port City Life has published a feature article on Adam in their January/February 2007 issue. It can not be viewed at their website, but will be on newstands in the greater Portland, ME area. Check it out!
Adam in December '06 issue of Mix Magazine! (01/2/2007): Adam wrote an article for Mix Magazine's "Notes From The P&E Wing" column in the December 'Mastering' issue. Adam completes the 2004 Maine Marathon! (10/4/2004): Adam completed his first marathon on October 3rd, 2004. His finishing time for the Sportshoe Center Maine Marathon was 4:31:55, with an average pace of 10:26/mile. "I'm in a lot of pain, I'll probably never do that again!", were Adam's first words after crossing the finish line.
"The System Has Failed" debuts @ #18! (09/23/2004): Megadeth's latest release "T.S.H.F." Debuted at #18 on the "Billboard 200" chart, and #10 on the Billboard "Top Internet Albums" chart.
"Days Go By" reaches #1! (09/15/2004): Keith Urban's latest single "Days Go By" landed at #1 on the Billboard 'Hot Country Singles & Tracks' chart for the week of September 18th, 2004. "Days Go By" is the 1st single from Keith's new album "Be Here", due in stores September 21st.

"Music As A Weapon II" debuts on Billboard 200. (03/9/2004): The "Music As A Weapon II" CD featuring Disturbed, Chevelle, Taproot, and Unloco debuted at #148 on the Billboard 200 this week. "Music As A Weapon II" documents live performances from last summer's "Music As A Weapon II" tour. It has also been released on DVD.

Obie Bermudez has a #1 hit with "Me Canse De Ti"! (01/21/2004): "Me Canse De Ti" landed at #1 on the Billboard "Hot Latin Tracks" chart in the January 24th issue of Billboard magazine. While "Me Canse De Ti" charted at #1, Obie's single "Antes" charted #4 on the "Hot Latin Tracks" chart. Both tracks are from Obie's latest release "Confesiones".
"Martina" is certified PLATINUM! (01/21/2004): Martina McBride's latest cd "Martina" was certified PLATINUM by the RIAA! A PLATINUM certification commemorates sales of 1 million copies or more. "Martina" is Adam's 1st PLATINUM record!

Among the nominees were: The Brian Setzer Orchestra, nominated in the category of "Best Pop Instrumental Performance" for "The Nutcracker Suite" off of "Boogie Woogie Christmas"; Martina McBride, in the category of "Best Female Country Vocal Performance" for "This One's For The Girls", off of "Martina"; and Lonestar in the category of "Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal" for "My Front Porch Looking In". All tracks mastered by Adam @ Gateway Mastering & DVD!
The Counting Crows new release "Films About Ghosts...The Best Of" debuts big on the Billboard charts! (01/8/2004): "Films About Ghosts...The Best Of" debuted at #32 on the "Billboard 200" chart.
Phish's concert DVD "Live In Vegas" certified Gold! (01/8/2004): "Live In Vegas" was certified Gold on Febuary 13, 2003 by the RIAA. A gold certification for "Longforn Video" (DVD) commemorates sales of 50,000 units or more. Adam mastered both the stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound audio for "Live In Vegas".
Bob Marley's Legend DVD certified Platinum! (01/8/2004): The "Legend" DVD was certified Platinum by the RIAA on October 29, 2003. A Platinum certification for "Longform Video" (DVD) commemorates sales of 100,000 units or more. Adam mastered the audio for the documentary "Time Will Tell" (stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound) which is part of the "Legend" DVD. Adam also spent time with the Marley family recently (Spring '03) restoring original unreleased Bob Marley tapes in Kingston, Jamaica.
Rush's concert DVD "Rush In Rio" certified Multi-Platinum! (01/8/2004): The "Rush in Rio " DVD has been certified Multi-Platinum (3x!) by the RIAA. A Platinum certification for "Longform Video" (DVD) commemorates sales of 100,000 units or more. Over 300,000 units of "Rush In Rio" have been sold to date. Adam mastered the stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound audio for "Rush In Rio", both the DVD and CD release.
Obie Bermudez has 2 top five hits on the Bilboard charts! (01/8/2004): In the January 17th issue of Billboard magazine, Obie Bermudez has 2 singles in the top five of the "Hot Latin Tracks" chart! "Antes" holds the #2 position, while "Me Canse De Ti" holds the #4 position. Both singles have held positions in the top ten of the "Hot Latin Tracks" for several weeks now. "Antes" & "Me Canse De Ti" appear on Obie's latest release "Confesiones".
Linkin Park's "Live In Texas" goes gold! (01/8/2004): The "Live In Texas" CD/DVD set was certified Gold by the RIAA on December 17, 2003. The Gold certification commemorates over 500,000 units sold. Adam mastered the stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound audio for the DVD version of "Live In Texas".
LeAnn Rimes "Greatest Hits" certified Gold! (01/8/2004): "Greatest Hits" was certified Gold by the RIAA. The Gold certification commemorates sale of 500,000 or more units. Adam mastered LeAnn's latest single "This Love", which appears on the "Greatest Hits" CD.
Linkin Park's "Live In Texas" DVD released Nov. 18th. (12/1/2003): The "Live In Texas" DVD was mastered in stereo and 5.1 surround sound by Adam. "Live In Texas" also marked the first time at Gateway that an entire DVD mastering session was done using Gateway's FTP server. All source files were uploaded to the server for mastering, and all of Adam's mastered files were downloaded from the server by the DVD authoring facility. No Fedex required!
Linkin Park "Live In Texas" debuts at #1! (12/1/2003): Linkin Park's new concert DVD "Live In Texas" debuted at #1 on the Billboard "Top Music Video" chart. The DVD also landed at #23 on the "Billboard 200" chart. Adam mastered the stereo and 5.1 Surround in the fall of 2003.
LeAnn Rimes "Greatest Hits" debuts at #3 on the Billboard charts! (12/1/2003): LeAnn Rimes' "Geatest Hits" debuted at #3 on the Billboard "Top Country Albums" chart. "Greatest Hits" also appeared at #24 on the "Billboard 200" chart. Adam mastered the leadoff single "This Love" from "Greatest Hits".
Martina Mcbride's "Martina" is certified gold! (11/19/2003): "Martina" was certified gold on November 18th. "Martina" is the second album Adam has mastered to go gold this year!

The Portland Phoenix - "Option B" (02/8/2003): This article dates back to the June 21 - 28, 2001 issue of the Portland Phoenix. Sam Pfeifle wrote an article about Adam, and the Mastering B room at Gateway. Mastering B was under construction at the time this article was written.
